Once we’d moved past the subject of Academy Obscura, dinner and the play were both amazing. Afterward, we strolled around downtown, taking in the nightlife. Tyler stopped us in one shadowy spot and turned me in his arms to face him. His lips brushed over mine in the faintest of kisses.

“I—” he started and cleared his throat. “I don’t want to sound like I assumed, and I certainly don’t want you to feel pressured, but I reserved us a hotel room for tonight just in case.” He stroked up and down my hips.

“Thank the Fates.” He took my arm and we meandered along the sidewalk. We’d been right around the corner from the hotel. In what had to have been record time, Tyler had us checked in.

Alone in the classy, plush room, we took a moment to gaze at each other. I hadn’t been nervous before, but I was now. Nervous, excited, desperately in love. This was not how I imagined my first time.

Tyler stepped forward first. He skimmed his knuckles down my cheek. “You are so beautiful.” He claimed my lips. His hard body pressed against mine, and the nervousness turned to hunger.

With his help, I eased off his jacket, then went for the shirt buttons. One by one, they popped apart until his chest was bare beneath my palms. He shrugged out of the white fabric and let it fall to the floor.

“Come here, beautiful.” Tyler unzipped my dress, and I stepped out of it. We sat on the foot of the bed to take off our shoes. “This is pretty,” he said, looping a finger under my lacy bra strap before sliding it down. He unclasped it and tossed the bra aside.
